Fewer Investment Financed by Leasing

13-10-2009

During nine months of 2009, 24 leasing companies in Poland financed investment for ZŁ13.6bn, compared to ZŁ21.4bn a year earlier. Although the pace of falls is slowing down a quarter on quarter, experts do not expect the fourth quarter of this year to change much as far as the over-all results for 2009 are concerned. Revenue fell in all sectors of fixed assets, from cars to machinery. Financing of cars, especially trucks, is dropping sharply. Over the first three quarters of this year, it fell by 43 percent to ZŁ7.1bn. Leasing of planes, ships and railways also dropped. In the case of machinery, financing felt by 26 percent to ZŁ4.5bn. Financing of IT equipment and software looks even better, but its share in the portfolio is insignificant Leasing companies hope to take part in financing of EU projects.
